Artist Statement : The place where I have been firing clay is in part of an old dairy barn. Walking past this part of the barn caught my eye with the light and shadows interior and exterior scene. My children had come here for clay camp in the summer, and were allowed to bottle feed 2 baby orphaned goats. A great memory for all.

Dimensions: 44 x 36 x 1.5
Media: Mixed media.
Artist Statement : This piece is about the two different sides of Baltimore. There are the pretty tourist areas with festivals, but there are also miles and miles of food deserts where people grow up between vacant houses and crime scenes. This piece pays homage to Tupac's poem about the rose that grew from concrete. It depicts a woman in a surreal rose bush who blossomed toward the sun despite her dark surroundings. The bottom portion of the piece is purposely upside down in an effort to make whoever looks at it question reality. I took a picture of the Monument Lighting provided by a friend and chopped it up. Then I used many pages of a book on the Hubble Telescope to create a festive environment that also doubles as the roots of the rose bush. The woman in the bush blossomed despite her hardships, and the preferred narrative of Baltimore as a pleasant tourist spot is one of those hardships. I used gold and silver foil to augment the frame. Most of my material came from thrift stores.

Dimensions: 15 x 22
Media: Archival pigment print
Artist Statement : I love the rich tonalities of a black and white image. My inspiration to capture and present an image is not limited in any way to specific subjects. I am however drawn to the American southwest with its stark light, organic patterns and ever shifting environments.
